№ 01 What's Happening

On the calendar

A few seats, one long evening, and something worth learning in every glass.

Friday7:00 pm

Rioja, Three Ways

Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva side by side. Taste what oak and time actually do.

DRAFT: price TBD

Details

One region, one grape, three ages. We pour a Crianza, a Reserva, and a Gran Reserva from Rioja and walk through them slowly: sight, aroma, palate, conclusion.

Victor explains what the aging categories legally mean, what they do to the wine in the glass, and how to tell the difference without reading the label.

Pouring: Rioja Crianza · Rioja Reserva · Rioja Gran Reserva

Saturday6:30 pm

Paella Night

Valencian paella done properly, with the story of what paella actually is, and isn’t.

DRAFT: price TBD

Details

Paella is a rice dish from Valencia before it is a seafood dish, a point most menus get backwards. We cook it the traditional way and talk about the rice, the socarrat, and why the pan matters.

Wines are chosen to match: Spanish whites and young reds that belong at a Valencian table.

Saturday7:00 pm

Blind Tasting: Trust Your Palate

No labels, no prices, no hints. Sight, nose, palate, conclusion. See what you actually taste.

DRAFT: price TBD

Details

Four wines, poured blind. Victor guides the room through the same method sommeliers use (look, smell, taste, conclude), and then the reveal.

No experience needed. The point is not to be right; it is to notice more.

Signature Event

Once a year, La Vid opens dozens of bottles of Rioja in a single day: young wines, old wines, and the occasional rarity, with Iberian food and live music. It is the day the whole shop becomes one long table.

№ 03 From Victor's Table

“You already have a palate. Tastings just teach you to listen to it.”

Victor Manuel, Certified Sommelier & Owner

Behind every bottle at La Vid is a reason it earned its shelf. Curious about Rioja's aging laws, what “20-Year Tawny” really means, or why good sardines are prized? Start reading, or just ask Victor when you're in.

What people say

  • Great atmosphere and selection of Iberian wines welcome after a recent trip to the area. Knowledgeable owners. Reasonable prices, good service. Excellent selection of wine to sample and/or purchase. We’ll be back!

  • As a wine enthusiast who has recently moved to the Carrollwood area I was extremely surprised with the selection and quality of wines that la Vid has to offer. Not only is it an incredible selection and quality, but staff are also amazing. I had the opportunity to meet Rosa, who was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about wine. She made my entire experience amazing and memorable. Definitely a spot to check out if you like wine, will be back as many times as I can.

  • Went for the Wine Tasting experience. Amazing. Victor is extremely passionate and knowledgeable of European wines and trends. He spoke at length about the process of making wine and the importance of selecting small, locally owned wineries vs medium to large companies. Highly recommend! We tried 6 different wines all hand picked and curated to reflect Spanish and Portuguese culture, trends, and local wines. The charcuterie board was delicious but I wish there was a menu to select the cheeses, meats and look at prices. Other than that, everything was perfect.
